New Adtham can strongly intimidate those who are new to the city, and perhaps never seen a city of this size before. The city walls enclose a sprawl almost 5 miles across, with the river Djel running through the middle. The Djel connects much of the continent of Osse to the Celestial Sea and the lands beyond, making New Adtham a wealthy port town where you might encounter anybody from the whole world!
Famous Areas:
The New Adtham Adventurer's Guild - Founded before the city itself, New Adtham in large part because of the success of the Guild. Developing into a large building with substantial training grounds, the Guild has become a true powerhouse with adventurer's from around the world. You can visit their main hall for free and see the many trophies of their adventurers (see Bernard Thatch for an enthusiastic tour), or if you're the type, speak to an Author and see about joining!
The White Market - Gleaming in the center of the city is the famed White Market, where many craftsmen (particularly gnomes) sell their marvelous creations. Prepare to be wowed, but be sure to bring your gold, for their masterpieces don't come cheap!
The Tump - Home of the government of New Adtham, Lady Bree rules over the city from the ancient castle at the top of the large hill in northwest New Adtham. Older than the Adventurer's Guild Hall, older even than the elves who settled ages ago, little is known of the castle or who built it, but it serves as a magnificent backdrop for our fair city.
The Singing Marsh - Though the elves call their home in the city Fasstäles’alee, most in the city now refer to it as the Singing Marsh, due to the beautiful songs sung in their quaint woodland home inside the city. If you are hungry in the city, hunt out an elven restaurant for some of our city's famous seafood. Try the eel noodles!
The Mage's College - Located in the center of the city across from the Singing Marsh, the Mage's College is a home of magic of all types in the city. Their tall tower is the highest point in the city, though it's a heck of a climb up the narrow tower. Enjoy your visit, but beware stray magic.
The Swell - At the southern end of the city, enjoy the view as, several times a day, the waters of the sea and the river fight their tidal battle. Swimming is discouraged, due to the proximity of the slaughterhouses and the lively eels that provide our city's most famous dishes.
The Shades - On the east bank of the Djell in the southern half of the city, you can visit the area commonly called the Shades. It's a folklorique network of old alleys and picturesque streets, where excitement lurks at every corner. In other words, you've been warned.
Dolly Sisters - The northeast quadrant of the city, north of the Adventurer's Guild, is a neighborhood welcoming of families. It's a peaceful area whose wholesome residents are always willing to have a pleasant chat over hearty meals.
