The Saga Unending is the famous text of the New Adtham Adventurer's Guild. Currently on its 83rd First Quill, the tomes of the Guild are its legacy: the members strive to live forever in song and story.
Joining the Guild:
The Guild welcomes all, regardless of race or creed, so long as the follow Guild rules and have some skill in adventuring. The Guild then provides quests to the adventurers and takes a cut of the fees, set by Renown within the Guild. Many people bring specific quests for the Guild to complete, and the Guild itself keeps its eyes and ears open for any quests to add to their great story.
Guild Structure:
The Guild has 3 branches: Steel, Spell, and Skill. There are two "authors" for each branch (representing styles of adventurers), and the authors may suggest official additions to the Saga. The First Quill is responsible for maintaining the Saga's books, and writing in the accomplishments of the members. The First Quill is a position of highest importance within the Guild, and is not given lightly. The current First Quill, an imposing dragonborn named Pelagrathil Qwand, rose from the rank of Author of Skill following the death of Tryst Nybi, a sorceress of great skill. The Guild rotates first quills between the three branches, so no one ideology drives the Guild for too long, and a new First Quill (and Second Quill, the next up to take the helm) either on the death of a Quill, or on the filling of a book. The dwarven cleric Willow Gnaw, Author of Steel, is set to inherit the Saga next.
Ranks:
Within the Guild, all follow a path of Renown: bringing glory to the Saga adds to your renown, and gives you ranks as you do. The lowest rank, a new member, is referred to as a "Line", then a Verse, then Chapter, then Voice, then Hero. It takes many years and many successful adventures of high Renown to attain the rank of Hero, and Heroes are particularly revered within the guild - and particularly rare.
